Our fourth SO Subscription concert takes us out to the American West. The sounds of the Great Plains, the music of the frontier, and all of their vibrant musical influences. Guest soloist and principal clarinet of the Charleston Symphony, Charlie Messersmith entrances us with Copland's lush Clarinet Concerto. The orchestra begins the night with William Grant Still’s exciting “Festive Overture,” and performs music from: “Oklahoma!” (arr. Robert Russell Bennett), Joseph Curiale's "Gates of Gold", and Chris Pilsner's "Light in the Ocean.”
